Jai is a gospel artist from St. Louis, the daughter of Bishop Jimmy L. Vaughn Sr. of Perpetual Praise and Worship Ministries. She graduated from Webster University in 2003 with a degree in communications and became an ordained minister. She released her first rap EP, titled Focus, in 2009 and followed it up with her proper studio debut, Culture Shock, in 2011. The album was well-received, and AllHipHop named her as a top 5 Christian rap artist, alongside heavy hitters Tedashii, Lecrae, Da T.R.U.T.H., and Flame. Jai is currently the worship pastor at St. Louis Dream Center.
