Prince Ea, a lifelong St. Louis resident, is a rapper, poet, and filmmaker who records inspirational and politically-minded hip hop music and videos. Inspired by rappers such as Canibus and Immortal Technique, he took the name Prince Ea, derived from Sumerian mythology meaning "The Prince of the Earth," and took to recording music after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Missouri at St. Louis with a degree in anthropology. His music received praise and attention from sites like World Star Hip Hop, and he also won music contests hosted by Vibe magazine and the now-defunct Funk Volume music label.

In 2011 Ea won The Riverfront Times's "Best Hip Hop Artist In St. Louis" award. He formed a movement in 2009 called "Make SMART (Sophisticating Minds and Revolutionizing Thought) Cool," to promote intelligence and enlightenment within hip hop culture and beyond. He also runs a clothing line associated with the movement. Recently, Ea has focused his attention on his inspirational and motivational videos on YouTube, which promote topics related to environmentalism, race issues, and spirituality. His videos have received over a billion views to date collectively.
