Steddy P, a native of Kansas City, is a rapper and co-founder of the independent label IndyGround Entertainment. Steddy began listening to hip hop at 7 years old as a fan of artists like Dr. Dre and LL Cool J and a viewer of MTV's Yo! MTV Raps. His brother, a touring musician who played guitar for Janet Jackson's Velvet Rope tour, would keep a steady supply of hip hop coming into the house for his younger brother, which eventually led to Steddy writing his own rhymes at 9 or 10 years old. He became immersed in all aspects of hip hop culture, eventually taking the stage name Steddy P from a breakdancing crew, the Rock Steady Crew, and becoming a graffiti artist in addition to his musical endeavors, which included making his own beats along with writing rhymes.

Steddy eventually moved to Columbia for school and built his name through acclaimed solo releases, open mic nights at Columbia's Sapphire Lounge, and opening for numerous national acts in Missouri, from Tech N9ne to Talib Kweli to Brother Ali to Murs. He formed IndyGround Entertainment (IGE for short) along with Andy Price and Eddy English without major label support or elite cosigns, and used a grassroots approach to promote Missouri hip hop scenes from Kansas City to St. Louis and everything in between. The first artists he signed were fellow MCs he had befriended at the Sapphire Lounge's "Mad Real Monday" open mic nights, named Thesis, Sergio Slayer, Agents of Phizix, John Spartan, Eddy English, and Grayhound Bustrip. Steddy has released a number of solo projects, as well as supporting his artists such as Abnorm, Royce Diamond, Brett Gretzky, Dom Chronicles, Scotty Wu, and Van Ghost. His DJ is DJ Mahf, who is also the official DJ for the St. Louis Blues hockey team.

Steddy is a University of Missouri graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
