Willie Moore grew up in St. Louis, first coming to regional attention for his early hip hop tracks, released under the moniker Pretty Willie, in the wake of Nelly's smash success. After graduating from the University of Mississippi, he signed to Universal Music Group after scoring a regional hit with "Roll With Me," as well as with the group Baby Gangstas. This deal didn't ultimately lead to much success, and after fulfilling his contractual obligations to UMG, he went independent. He began experimenting with an R&B style and would then attract the attention of major label Warner Bros., who would sign him on as an R&B artist.

Eventually, Moore became active in church and was saved, ultimately becoming a licensed minister and shifting to a gospel style in his music. He charted on the Billboard Christian charts through his collaborative album with Christian rapper Bizzle. Currently, Moore hosts The Willie Moore Jr. Show for Radio One.
