Flame is a gospel rap artist from St. Louis. Flame began his career writing devotionals to God, which he converted into raps and performed, attracting the interest of prominent Christian hip hop label, Cross Movement Records, who wanted to record and release his music on a wider scale. In 2004, Cross Movement released Flame's self-titled debut album, which sold nearly 100,000 copies and established Flame in the gospel world.

Flame continued to release music and tour with Cross Movement over the next few years, earning acclaim and even some commercial fame. One of his biggest claims to mainstream fame came when then-St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols used an interlude from Flame as his walk-up music when he came to bat. In 2007, his song "Gotta Notice" was nominated for a Dove Award for Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year, which he ultimately lost to KJ-52. That year he toured with Cross Movement's eponymous supergroup on their final tour, releasing his fourth studio album Our World: Redeemed the following year, which received nominations for Dove and Stellar awards, as well as a Grammy nomination, his greatest recognition yet, although the award would end up going to Tobymac.

In 2010, Flame launched his own label, Clear Sight Records, where he has released all his music since then to date. He has earned several more Dove and Stellar nominations, as well as high placements on the Billboard charts for his subsequent releases, the highest charting being his sixth album The 6th, which reached #1 on the gospel chart, #8 rap, #8 independent, and #67 on the Billboard Hot 200.
